Too many Issues--Try Another Hotel!

As a Gold Level Hilton member, I am familiar with the properties in the Hilton portfolio. The Hampton Inn hotels can range from quite nice to old and dated. Unfortunately, this property falls toward the latter end of the spectrum. Overpriced for a depressing and below average property. The room was dark--like a tomb. Must be trying to save money on electricity. Carpet and flooring is gray--to hide the dirt. The bed was uncomfortable and the noise from the jets at night was terrible. This property must be located directly below the flight path of the biggest planes that land at IAH--TERRIBLE NOISE! Breakfast was nothing special--staff just going through the motions with low-end food choices. And to top it all off, the hotel charges elite level guests for high-speed internet. Their website gives guests two choices--but unlike Marriott and other properties, elite guests will have to pay the Hampton Inn five dollars for the "fast" internet. When asked about it upon departure, the clerk was surly and defensive. Obviously, it's a sore subject with them. In sum, I'd recommend going elsewhere. Won't ever stay at this property again.

My husband and I stayed one night here after a late flight, before travelling to Galveston for a cruise. This hotel is great- the shuttle picked us up and the check in process was easy. Room was large, comfortable and had a great TV and shower. The complimentary breakfast is excellent and starts at 6am. Shuttles start 4am. There is a really well equipped gym and also a little pool! We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again

The building itself is nice and the location near the airport is convenient. What wasn’t convenient was the lack of response from the hotel when calling from the airport for a shuttle pick up. It took 15 minutes for the hotel to answer their phone. Then another 20 minutes for a shuttle to arrive. Another 20 minutes to the hotel as we went to different terminals. The staff was cheerful, but not answering the phone when you are an airport hotel with shuttle was a severe break in expected service.

The Front Desk manager was BEYOND pleasant and helpful!! We were able to check in early due to our cruise checkout was before noon. They also were able to get the shuttle driver an hour earlier the next morning to ensure we made our flight! The room was clean and comfortable and all staff was cordial and seemed happy we were there! Great Job!!!!

Now knowing Houston, we selected this hotel for location to the airport...and it is very close to the airport. Yes, you can hear planes taking off and landing, especially the side closest to the airport. Didn't really bother us. Service was good and we liked the physical facility. We had a rental car so even getting to Houston proper was not all that bad. Breakfast was on par with similar hotels, eggs, sausage, bacon, oatmeal, make your own waffles. Coffee/tea/hot chocolate station was wonderful. Hotel was clean and our room was very large. There is a Jack in the Box next door if you need late night eats. The biggest issue we had was for some reason, on our last night, some construction company decided it was a good idea to start at around 11pm at night. We are talking truck back up alarms, skill saws running constantly, jack hammers. Terrible. This is not the hotel's fault. But when I asked to be moved across the hall away from this noise, the front desk accommodated me and we moved across the hall. That was the right thing to do. I know the attendant was also on the phone with the police in regard to this and was placed on hold. I think if we stay near Bush Airport, this is still a feasible option.
